Champions League: Thomas Tuchel regrets big mistake in Chelsea win over Lille

  Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed one big mistake he made in his side’s 2-0 Champions League last-16 win over Lille at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

  The German has blamed himself for the injury to midfielder Mateo Kovacic, agreeing that he should have removed the Croatia international early.

  The former Real Madrid man was forced off six minutes into the half-time break with a hamstring injury.

  Chelsea will now have to wait and see if he can play in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

  Tuchel’s other injury problem is Hakim Ziyech, who was ruled out nine minutes after Kovacic’s departure, with the Moroccan striker also sidelined.

  And the German coach said he did not know how serious the next issue was.
